Artists Unite for Gaza with Aswat Fundraiser and Art Show in Oakland
Raising funds to provide aid to displaced and distressed families in Gaza.

Artists from Oakland and New York have come together to organize a group show and fundraiser called “Aswat,” meaning “voices” in Arabic, to support families affected by the genocide in Gaza. The event aims to raise funds for Gaza Mutual Aid Solidarity, an organization dedicated to providing direct aid to displaced and distressed families, helping them meet their basic needs during these catastrophic times. Organized by Palestinian-American artists Sam Sundos and Michelle Nazzal, the event launched this past weekend at the Clay Clubhouse in Oakland, California.
The fundraiser will feature over ten artists from across the country, including Sam Sundos, Saif Azzuz, Jo Boyer, Sahar Khoury, and Jeff Cheung. Food will be provided by Michelle Nazzal, known for Mish Mish Souk, and Reem Assil from Reem’s California. “This event came together with hopes to not only fundraise for mutual aid work but to also foster community and solidarity with artists and food advocates who have been outspoken against the Palestinian occupation and the current genocide taking place in Gaza,” said event organizer and artist Sam Sundos.
The event is open to the public, with sliding scale donations accepted at the door. For more information and a full list of participants, visit @ClayClubhouse and @Mishmishsouq on social media. Those unable to attend can learn how to donate to the aid group online here.
